In Pursuit of Jesus Part 2

To the person feeling like all is lost.
To the one feeling trapped in a life of sin and despair.
To the girl struggling to find her meaning in life.
To the father who feels like a failure.
To the preacher who feels like he will never succeed.
To the business owner who uses work to drown out the pain.
To the child who is never understood.
To the boy who is hiding hell under a bluff.
To the person lost in a world of chaos.
To the lonely.
To the hurt.
To the one who feels like there is no hope.
To the one who wants to live a better life and doesn't know how.
To everyone, everywhere, in any circumstance or situation.
This is a call to drop what ever your doing, stop fighting to make life work.
Stop trying to fix it. Mend broken dreams. Heal your broken heart. Stop trying
to do it all on your own.
You are wearing yourself out for no reason.
I know it seems strange and a little unbelievable, and maybe you don't believe this at all...
But there is a God in heaven. Not only is He God, Creator of the very earth you stand on,
Star Breather, and Savior of the world. He tells us He is our Father. We are His children.
We were not created to do this alone. We were not meant to go about life fighting to
make something work. We were created to pursue the heart of the Father. The one who can heal your pain. Fix your broken heart tonight. He has promised he will wipe all tears from your eyes. You don't have to do this on your own. He wants you to come to him, and let him deal with it for you. He wants you to pursue him with your whole heart. He has promised that those who do that will find him.

This post is a letter I wrote to myself. I'm not here writing for everyone else. I'm no better than anyone just because I write all the right things. Truth be told I'm going through a very hard time in my own life. I told you I intend to be real. It puts me in a vulnerable position... you can take this and use it against me if you feel the need to. But I am in need of prayer tonight, I'm fighting a hard battle. And I just want you all to know, I may write everything like I know the answers and I know how to do life. But that's not the way it is. I'm just like everyone else. I have problems just like anyone else. I'm on a journey to find the heart of God.

 I haven't been writing because I'm scared of what I'll say. There is no taste more sour than the words of someone who has let grief and pain make them bitter and I, for one, would never write another word if I thought that was who I was becoming. It is hard to be your own judge. We are our own harshest critic. If what I thought of myself was true I would kill myself off to spare the rest of the world from my existence. Yellow

 My favourite colour. The colour of my middle name. The colour of sunshine and pineapple and sunflowers and lemonade and my favourite shirt. There is a particular shade of yellow that is my favourite. I used to wear it often, and people always commented on it and said I look good in that colour. This is no secret. But what people don't know is that yellow has also been one of my biggest and most feared triggers. Because yellow is the colour I was wearing the day the world showed me just how cruel and godless it can be. Yellow became a dirty colour. The colour that triggered panic attacks. The colour in my nightmares. Healing took years. In part, because I refused to admit that damage had been done, and partly because healing just takes longer. What Light Does

 A little overwhelming might be a way to describe it. God went above and beyond today. The way such a painful day could hold so much beauty. I should have known God would do that. He always shows up like that and I, hanging on to doubt to protect myself from disappointment, am always surprised.   I'm reading "A Grief Observed" by S.C. Lewis. It was recommended to me by my good friend and I barely got through the first paragraph without tears. It's brought up some emotions I haven't felt in a while. I found a journal entry from the week after she died. "I felt a strange pain in my chest and heard someone gasp before I realized I'd stopped breathing again and my lungs were taking over." Grief is most definitely something like fear. I'll quote Lewis, "I am not afraid, but the sensation is like being afraid. The same fluttering in the stomach, the same restlessness, the yawning.
