Why Chapter 11:11?



Chapter 11:11 was inspired by my love of books, a fascination with 11:11, and the decision to face my fears and start living. ​Life is like a book. Your life begins at Chapter 1, and ends when you die, at the last chapter. And right now, all of us are somewhere in between. And that place can be a little confusing sometimes. We feel like we don't know where to go or what to do. But I also have no time of day for sitting around waiting for my life calling to come to me. I intend on starting. So where do you start? That's where 11:11 comes in. There's a superstitious myth about wishes coming true if you wish them on 11:11. I don't believe that, but again, my hopeless love of the little things in life led me to think that my dreams and goals could be represented by that number. Where do you start? What better place than at the place your dreams and goals start.

 I haven't been writing because I'm scared of what I'll say. There is no taste more sour than the words of someone who has let grief and pain make them bitter and I, for one, would never write another word if I thought that was who I was becoming. Yellow

 My favourite colour. The colour of my middle name. The colour of sunshine and pineapple and sunflowers and lemonade and my favourite shirt. There is a particular shade of yellow that is my favourite. I used to wear it often, and people always commented on it and said I look good in that colour. This is no secret. But what people don't know is that yellow has also been one of my biggest and most feared triggers. Because yellow is the colour I was wearing the day the world showed me just how cruel and godless it can be. Yellow became a dirty colour. The colour that triggered panic attacks. The colour in my nightmares. Healing took years. In part, because I refused to admit that damage had been done, and partly because healing just takes longer. What Light Does

 A little overwhelming might be a way to describe it. God went above and beyond today. The way such a painful day could hold so much beauty. I should have known God would do that. He always shows up like that and I, hanging on to doubt to protect myself from disappointment, am always surprised.   I'm reading "A Grief Observed" by S.C. Lewis. It was recommended to me by my good friend and I barely got through the first paragraph without tears. It's brought up some emotions I haven't felt in a while. I found a journal entry from the week after she died. "I felt a strange pain in my chest and heard someone gasp before I realized I'd stopped breathing again and my lungs were taking over." Grief is most definitely something like fear. I'll quote Lewis, "I am not afraid, but the sensation is like being afraid. The same fluttering in the stomach, the same restlessness, the yawning.
